In case you missed it, OSHA has announced changes to their Respiratory Protection Standard. The changes affect the Ambient Aerosol Condensation Nuclei Counter (CNC) Quantitative Fit Test (QNFT) Protocols in 29 CFR 1910.134, Appendix A.

These changes took effect on 26 September 2019 and include new modified rules for the following respirators:

 

  • Full-facepiece and half-mask elastomeric respirators
  • Filtering facepiece respirators

 

The modified CNC protocols enable fewer, shorter fit test exercises, reducing the the total fit test time to less than two and a half minutes. Like the original OSHA protocols, the new ones are compatible with the PortaCount Respirator Fit Testers, models 8030, 8038, 8040, and 8048.
